Ol Pejeta Conservancy

Ol Pejeta Conservancy is a wildlife conservancy situated in the Laikipia County of Kenya. It was originally a cattle ranch before being converted into a wildlife conservancy in the 1980s. The conservancy covers an area of about 360 square kilometers and is home to a variety of wildlife species, including the Big Five (elephant, lion, leopard, rhino, and buffalo), Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, and chimpanzees.

One of the main attractions of Ol Pejeta Conservancy is its population of endangered northern white rhinos. As of 2021, there are only two surviving individuals of this subspecies left in the world, both of which reside at Ol Pejeta. The conservancy is also home to a sanctuary for chimpanzees rescued from the illegal pet trade or from laboratories, making it the only place in Kenya where visitors can see chimpanzees.

Ol Pejeta Conservancy is committed to conservation and sustainable tourism practices.
