Mount Kenya climbing: 5 Days Sirimon-Sirimon Route
Mt Kenya climbing Sirimon Route At 5199m high, it is Africa’s second highest mountain, with gleaming and eroded snow-capped peaks, which can be seen for miles. It is a broad, large symmetrical volcano cone whose diameter at the base is about 12 km, dating between 2 to 3 million years ago. There are three peaks; Mbatian, , Nelion and point Lenana. The magnificent views over the surrounding country from point Lenana and other high points around the main peaks and trekking on this mountain is a priority among tourists. The forest surrounding the mountain support a large variety of wildlife such as elephant, buffalo, monkey, antelope, lion, zebra, eland, rock hyrax, giant forest hogs, leopard and various species of birds such as eagle, vulture, and sunbird among others.

Itinerary
Depart Nairobi in the morning and drive through the Kikuyu land in central Kenya covering approx 230kms to Nanyuki Town where you will have your lunch, than take a walk to the Equator for acclimatization. Dinner and overnight at a budget hotel.
After breakfast drive to Sirimon gate from where you start your hiking .A 9kms walk for 3hrs through a rain forest with a pick nick lunch en-route will bring you to Old Moses (3300m) arriving around noon. Dinner and overnight at the camp.
Hike through the moorland where you see a different kind of flora. Walk through Liiki Valley then along Mackinders Valley arriving at Shipton (4200m). late afternoon. Lunch en-route or at the camp. Dinner and overnight at the camp. Approximate walking time 7hrs, 17kms.
Wake up early morning at 0300hrs and after warming up with a cup of tea and some snacks start hiking heading to Point Lenana arriving the summit at aproximately 0630hrs. Enjoy the views of the sunrise and take photos, then start your descent down to Shipton camp for breakfast, then further down to Old Moses where you will spend the night. Lunch and dinner at Old Moses.
After breakfast descend down for 9 kms to the gate where you get your transport back to Nairobi, making a lunch stop in Nanyuki.
