Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary is one of Kenya’s remarkable wildlife destinations, located in Taita-Taveta County between Tsavo East and Tsavo West National Parks. Its varied landscapes include open grasslands, woodland, rocky hills and seasonal water sources that support a wide range of wildlife.

The sanctuary provides excellent opportunities to observe African wildlife in a beautiful natural setting. Day 1 Day 1

Day 1: Mombasa – Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary – Salt Lick Safari Lodge

06:00 – Hotel Pickup and Departure

Depart from your beach hotel in Mombasa, Diani Beach or the surrounding coastal area. Travel along the Mombasa–Nairobi highway towards Taita Hills, enjoying views of Kenya's countryside along the way.

10:00 – Arrival and Morning Game Drive

Enter Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary and begin your first game drive. Explore the sanctuary's grasslands and woodland habitats in search of elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, antelopes and predators such as lions and leopards.

12:30 – Lunch at Salt Lick Safari Lodge

Arrive at the famous Salt Lick Safari Lodge, check in and enjoy lunch. The lodge's elevated rooms and viewing areas overlook a waterhole that attracts wildlife throughout the day.

14:30 – Afternoon Game Drive

Head out for an afternoon game drive through Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary. Enjoy opportunities to spot wildlife in different parts of the sanctuary while your professional driver-guide shares information about the animals and their habitat.

18:00 – Return to the Lodge

Return to Salt Lick Safari Lodge and enjoy the unique experience of watching wildlife visiting the waterhole from the lodge's viewing areas.

Enjoy dinner at the lodge before retiring to your elevated safari room.

Day 2: Morning Game Drive – Taita Hills – Mombasa

06:00 – Early Morning Game Drive

Wake up early for a sunrise game drive when wildlife is often more active. Explore the sanctuary in search of elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, antelopes and predators.

08:30 – Breakfast at Salt Lick Safari Lodge

Return to the lodge for breakfast. Enjoy the morning views of the waterhole and the surrounding sanctuary.

10:00 – Additional Game Drive

Depending on your departure schedule, enjoy another game drive through the sanctuary for further wildlife viewing and photography.

12:30 – Lunch and Check-Out

Return to the lodge for lunch, then complete check-out formalities before beginning your journey back to the coast.

14:00 – Return Journey to Mombasa

Depart Taita Hills and travel back towards Mombasa or Diani Beach.

17:00–18:00 – Hotel Drop-Off

Arrive at your coastal hotel, marking the end of your 2-Day Taita Hills & Salt Lick Safari. (Breakfast and lunch included.)
